The Center for Contemporary Education was established to provide a focus for enhancing "community outreach" and educational leadership. The Center develops partnerships with schools, universities, and other agencies; develops ways to connect educational resources with the resources in the wider community; sponsors conferences, symposia, and other educational programs; advocates for education; and offers a voice for progressive education in the national public discourse about education and schooling in general.

More information about the Center's program and activities is available. This World Wide Web site, one of several that are maintained by us, is a tool for the dissemination of information and resources from the Center for Contemporary Education.

We hope, in addition to serving the interests of the teaching community in particular, to serve the needs of the wider educational world. Our aim is to create a forum which will develop and demonstrate the considerable potential of the Internet for fostering communication about education that cuts across boundaries, public and private; K-12 school, college, university, and public agency; teacher, parent, student, and educational researcher. You will find here links to useful educational resources and highlights of some of the best current practices of progressive education.
